FAQ.

Policies and Procedures.

Rain.

Track cycling cannot take place on a wet velodrome.

  • If heavy rain occurs before a session, it may be delayed or canceled. Updates will be posted on our Facebook page 30 minutes prior to the session start.

  • If rain starts during a session and wets the track, the session will be paused. If rain continues, it and any following sessions will be canceled.

Air Quality.

CBTL follows the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) due to the intensity of track cycling and seasonal wildfire smoke.

  • Thursday Night Races are canceled if AQHI is 6 or higher.

  • The track is closed entirely if AQHI reaches 8 or higher.

Our policy aligns with the Alberta Bicycle Association (ABA) and the City of Calgary. View the ABA Air Quality Policy here.

Extreme Heat.

CBTL follows ABA heat guidelines to ensure rider safety during high temperatures.

  • We monitor local humidex (“feels like”) values and may adjust sessions or cancel races as needed.

  • Decisions are based on humidex, not just air temperature.

Hours.

As an outdoor facility, CBTL’s hours vary throughout the year based on sunset.

During peak season, weekday sessions can run until 9:00 PM, as long as signed-up riders are present on the track.

For full programming and daily hours, check our calendar.
